*{+}DataPortability Project Legal Entitity Status Update{+}* \- Steve Repetti, Chairman of the Legal Committee

The Legal committee was established to assess, recommend, and implement - as directed by the steering committee - the efforts required to cause the creation of the legal entity that best represents the interests of the Data Portability organization and corresponding community. It was determined that the entity would be a US-based globally-focused non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The California-based law firm of Perkins-Coie has graciously agreed to donate their services in assisting this process and they are in the midst of drafting the initial documentation for submittal to the steering committee for approval. This is an important step for Data Portability as a whole, and somewhat complicated in that it is the intent of the steering committee to provide as much transparency of governance and empowerment of the individual voice as possible. With any luck, this effort should be before the DP board and community for discussion and approval within the next few weeks. All members of the Data Portability community are encouraged to participate.

*{+}Update on the HeathCare Taskforce by its chairperson  Anthony Broad-Crawford{+}*

The Charter of the [http://wiki.dataportability.org/display/work/Healthcare+Task+Force|http://wiki.dataportability.org/display/work/Healthcare+Task+Force][DataPortability HealthCare TaskForce|http://wiki.dataportability.org/x/C4A8] is to identify the unique requirements within the generalized healthcare domain to support the ability for networked entities to access and otherwise leverage consumer-centric data. The healthcare taskforce has been hard at work since the kick off in October.  Its area of focus has been use cases and interfacing with external groups researching this same space.  Our use cases which can be found here ([http://wiki.dataportability.org/display/work/HCTF+Use+Cases)represent] the core area of focus for the group and will set the tone for our initial position paper.  Additionally, we have been identifying and working with groups such as Liberty Alliance and ID Commons to find what synergies exist between these similar initiatives and how we might work together.  Finally, the taskforce is beginning in ernest this February writing the initial position paper and looking to begin distribution in early March.

January 20th - Complete Use Case identification and assign owners
January 30th - Complete Use Case documentation
February 16th - Rough draft of position white paper complete
March 1st - Begin distributing white paper to top 3 eHealth sites
