Task Force Status
In development. If you are interested in assisting with the launch please contact [Daniela Barbosa]
Goal of the Service Provider Grid:
Make available a Service Provider grid that is maintained to ensure that information provided is valid and illustrates the state of what features are available and if providers are using open standards to implement them.
History:
At the last Data Sharing Summit, a Group Session was lead by Marc Canter to create a Service Provider grid that illustrated the state of what features are available and if providers are using open standards to implement them. Grid idea came from Stacy Higgingbotham's - Prying Open the Social Graph article on GIGAOM and Kaliya's session recommendation on Comparing the 'Openness' Announcements. You can find notes and what i currently have available here:

Requirements:
- Public Access to data via read only screens. Ability to compare Vendors, find specific vendors that are using specific technologies etc. Grid should be dynaic enough to allow user to pivot in multiple ways
- Data should have last updated dates exposed so user knows status of update for that specific vendor entry
- Vendors will be invited to participate in maintaining their own entries which is the ideal situation and will be given a login
- A controlled vocabulary most be established that can be assigned to things like company (eg. social network, content producer, etc.) Standards ( the Schema)
- 1-2 'keepers' will be assigned to also maintain and proactively engage with the vendors to ensure data is updated and complete
- We anticipate that new standards and services will need to be added- i don't think it should be adhoc by the companies or the users but we need a process for new fields etc.
