Mission
1. The goal of the 'Official DataPortability Blog' is to provide mainstream context, commentary and conversation about people, places, events, announcements and trends along the way to the vision of Data Portability as stated by the Vision document.
Management
2. The blog will be managed by the Blog Chair as an initiative of the Communications Action Group. Their job will be to recruit contributors and set/refine the blog policy.
Contributors
3. Individuals may nominate themselves to be a blog contributor. Then the chair and the existing members of the blogging team will make the final selection.
4. Contributors are responsible for making posts in line with the Mission of the DataPortability project generally and the mission of the DataPortability blog specifically.
Desired Outcomes
We are blogging so that...
a. The community has a clear place to go when data portability news breaks and people want to see an official dp.org view.
b. We continue to build DataPortability's reputation for thought leadership
c. We continue to build DataPortability's reputation for fresh and accurate facts and news about data portability
d. We promote DataPortability's projects
e. We improve volunteer and partner recruitment and retention
f. We promote the adoption of data portability principles, patterns, and practices
g. We educate through conversation with the blog's readers
Potential Metrics
a. Frequency. how often do we publish? how does this compare to some minimum we set?
b. Percent of all official business reported (upcoming meetings, minutes,votes, etc.). Target 100%? Weekly summary?
c. Mechanical correctness (spelling errors, broken links, etc.).
d. Readership. both web and feed consumption. good to trend this.
e. Commentary. ratio of comments to posts, a measure of engagement.
f. Authority on Technorati. how well are we respected?
g. SEO measures (like Google ranking on keywords we'd like to own).
h. Citation: inbound links on Google.
