There are two ways you can involve yourself with the DataPortability project. You can either be an observer or a contributor to the action groups.
All activity relating to the DataPortability project can be found online. Discussion occurs via the Google Groups and Skype chats, whereas documentation are found on the DataPortability wiki. By registering an account on the various services, you will have access to discussions and documentation, thereby making you an observer. Note the Google Groups and the wiki are accessible without login; additionally the skype chat are set to public enabling anyone to join.
The difference between an observer and a contributor, is someone who is recognised in the DataPortability community as contributing to the cause. There is no formal membership process - you simply are recognised as a member through your contributions. We suggest you:
1) Create a personal space on the wiki, with a brief biography so that your identity is known
2) Respond on the Google Groups so that people are aware of who you are and what you stand for
3) Join the Skype chat rooms to get to know other people
As people become aware of your involvement through the above activities, you will begin to learn how you can further involve yourself and you will also be approached by the various leaders in the groups to be involved in certain initiatives.
