Hey, everyone else is blogging about the new iPhone this week.
In fact, the Apple Push Notification Service coming in Fall 2008 seems to work like half of a synchronization utility: from third party servers through an Apple server to phones. Data portabliity really calls for a sync architecture to be both bidirectional (to enable backup, for instance) and p2p (in this case that's phone to phone). Sync services help keep identity and other onlife data consistent across sites.
What role do you think data portability values should play in smart phone architecture?
